Behind the ink

Founded by Helen, in 2006.

✦

The Nairobi-based company quickly established itself as an expert in traditional hand screen-printing.

Highly passionate and strengthened by her extended background in the History of Art, Helen is a creative force. After decades in sales, she needed a change and applied her passion for art and design. Drawing from her expertise, she created a unique concept that sets her apart — offering clients a hand-crafted, made-to-order service for a discerning clientele in search of authentic, exclusive artisanal craftsmanship.

Dedicated to preserving timeless crafts, Dragonfly Designs is firmly convinced that traditional techniques contribute to inspiring creation and the arts in the broadest sense. Inspired by this rich history, the studio blends traditional techniques with contemporary flair to create vibrant and expressive prints — ensuring the art form continues to inspire future generations.

Our philosophy

What we hold to.

Passion

Behind each creation, the craftsmanship.

Every print begins with someone who cares how it turns out. Nothing here is automated into anonymity.

Precision

An exceptional artisanal mastery.

Registration, colour, cure. The discipline that lets a hand-pulled print hold its line across a run of three hundred.

Patience

From humble beginnings.

Many of the team started out cleaning screens. Skills are grown here, slowly, and kept.

✦

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

Our team

More than colleagues, we are family.

With some of us having journeyed alongside the brand for over a decade, and collectively boasting over 25 years of experience in the intricate art of screen printing, we’re not just colleagues. From humble beginnings, many of us have honed our craft from cleaning screens to mastering every facet of the process.
